About Carolyn Mumby

Carolyn is an executive coach and leadership mentor, supervisor and team facilitator.

With a background in leadership development and consultancy in the third sector Carolyn has run her own business for the last 20 years. She works with leaders in corporate settings supporting them to manage change and rebalance when life and work have become challenging.  She brings depth of presence with a genuine and authentic approach.

Skilled at enabling people to both feel at ease and to face into and remove the limiting assumptions that are holding them back, Carolyn has enabled clients to develop a more authentic and persuasive leadership style based on their own unique strengths and the needs of the organisation. She has worked extensively on an individual basis with owners and leaders in small creative and communication businesses. She coaches entrepreneurs pro bono for the New Entrepreneur Foundation, supporting young business leaders who are growing and pitching their own businesses whilst working in fast growing start-ups.

Carolyn has trained with Nancy Kline and is a licenced Time to Think Coach and Time to Think Facilitator. Using this approach has enabled teams to work together with greater ease, get the best thinking from all their people and spend less time in meetings.   Recent work has included co-design and facilitation of workshops for LeadersPlus.

She writes about the effective combination of coaching and therapeutic approaches using the Personal Consultancy Framework and as well as articles for Coaching Today she has guest authored a book chapter on this way of working, believing that “it is not always necessary to go into depth, but sometimes it is futile to stay on the surface” (Popovic). Drawing on both her extensive previous experience as a therapist and group facilitator in combination with her experience in coaching, she has designed and delivered mental health training for Executive Coaches.

Carolyn co- designed and facilitated EMCC Senior Coach training which received the European Quality Award and she supervises and mentors dual trained practitioners.

She is chair of bacp coaching division and a member of the Future Collaboration for Coaching.

Professional memberships: European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC), British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), Association for Integrative Coach Therapy Practitioners (AICTP).
